Hello! Hope the winter cold hasn’t been too bitter for those of you who are really getting into the thick of it now.
Got two updates; one leading from the other. First, about my novel. Second, about my plans for content from this platform for the foreseeable future.
METANOIA [1] comes March 1st!
Might be a bit of a shaky date considering I’m publishing from a platform I haven’t worked with for this sort of thing yet (BookVault), but nonetheless, that is the date set for the physical release!
I’m really excited for more people to get their hands on it. As I’ve mentioned in Notes, I got my first binge reader a couple weeks ago after lending her the proof copy. So that was a pretty incredible experience.
I’d love to talk about it more, but that would bury the lead here, so here’s the blurb and first chapter if you’re interested in what it’s about.
Now that it’s ready, it’s time for me to really buckle down and get the next two parts finished—as in, they’ve already been planned out and worked on, even technically wrote a full draft of part 2 already (though that will be significantly modified).
And that leads us to the next update…
Article Plans
…are winding down a bit. I want to focus my writing time on the novel so as you might expect that means less to my scattered one-off projects. I doubt I’ll be able to resist dipping back into the joy of impromptu think-pieces every once in a while, and I do intend to indulge in some Sunday poetry writing, but otherwise I’m going to put out just two more planned articles and then that will probably be it for a while.
(and this is why I’ve ultimately decided against subscriptions and only have the Ko-fi jar those inclined)
So, what’s on the docket?
End of Feb — On AI [1]: The Technological Dead-end We’re In
(name pending) A look from a Software Developer’s perspective on why we shouldn’t be expecting an AGI on the kinds of computers we have today.
March — On AI… [0]: Man, Work, and Machines
A philosophical look through the lens of history to speculate at how man’s relationship with our technology formed, where it’s gone astray, and what might be its proper ordering.
You can thank all of you on Notes posting about AI recently for this focus. And also my parish priest suggested the topic that became the second one. I may write more in the future on this topic as well, thus the naming scheme. But I’m doing 1 before 0 because 1 is an easier topic to write on!
Alright, that’s it. As always, sharing my stuff is always appreciated. So, if anything I write strikes your fancy, please do.
Have a nice day.
